Today I learned with great sadness of the news of the horrific attack on the Jewish Community at the Tree of Life Congregation Synagogue in Pittsburg Pennsylvania.
I condemn with the strongest possible words any kind of an attack toward a religious minority. I am heavy hearted for anyone who may feel unsafe in their place of worship.
It is my belief that each society must treat their people equally without regard to their religious belief and must seek to provide safe places to worship within their societies. Religious minorities should be protected, and their places of worship should serve as a safe haven and viewed as a special asset within the community.
My deepest appreciation goes out to the amazing first responders and law enforcement for their swift actions and continuous sacrifices.
I offer my deepest condolences to all that were affected by this tragic event and I stand in solidarity with my brothers and sisters in the Jewish Community.
May God enable us to view each other as brothers and sisters and may He make it easy for us to create an inclusive society. May Gods blessing reach each heart and each place in our country.
Sincerely,
Imam Ossama Bahloul
