To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11, the Islamic Center of Nashville is partnering with Multi-Faith Neighbors Network’s 9/11 Day of Service for Afghan Refugees. The mission of the service day, which will take place Saturday, is to unite citizens of multiple faith backgrounds around love, serving those in need and providing goods for the Afghan refugees who recently arrived in the United States.
Each family participating in the service day is asked to pack at least one box for an adult female, an adult male and a child. The boxes should be the size of a shoebox.
Items needed for each box:
Adult female box
• Toothbrush
• Toothpaste
• Sanitary pads
• Hairbrush
• Two pack of deodorant
• Razors
• Shaving cream
• Two bars of soap
Adult male box
• Toothbrush
• Toothpaste
• Two pack of deodorant
• Razors
• Shaving cream
• Two bars of soap
Child box
• Toothbrush
• Toothpaste
• Hairbrush
• Kids shampoo
• Two bars of soap
• Coloring book
• Crayons
• Small stuffed toy
• Small pack of cookies
At this time, only the items listed can be accepted. Please do not bring clothes or furniture.
Drop-off is 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at Islamic Center of Nashville, 2515 12th Ave. S.
